A week ago I came home, after being in Taipei for the weekend to find out that some very small bugs had moved in while I was absent. No, these bugs do not bit me, or at least it has not happened so far. These bugs fly, which means I can’t just leave a little poison for them to crawl across and they will forever be gone.
I know God created bugs and that there is a purpose for each kind of bugs and I defiantly know he did not create these bugs so that they may invade our cute little kitchen. The moment I saw them, I declared war on them and did everything in my power get rid of them. I took the garbage out, I washed the floor, the counters, every single dish, the walls, the sink, and I sealed and resealed all the food. Half of them died from lack of food, but the other half decide that there were also two more stories to the house they were abiding in and so traveled upstairs to our living room and today they moved to the third floor. I can handle a lot of things that are horrible, but fruit flies are not one of the things I can handle. I have just decided that no matter what the cost those bugs will be removed from my house.
It is so easy for us to get caught up in things that can distract us from the real work at hand. Pray for us that we may stay focused on Christ, and not get distracted and irritated by the flies that come into our lives.
